Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5928 – A Review

Being a geek, I was in love with my laptop before I got it to the checkout at Walmart, but I decided to wait a month before actually reviewing it… you know, cause not everything is as glorious as we dreamed.

Or is it?

My husband has had 2HP Latops, and we had an eMachines laptop for a while. None of these lasted more than a year. (Need I tell you we’re hard on our computers?) Last year, after his second HP quit functioning, Hubs took his business elsewhere and bought a Toshiba. Unlike the others which all had minor problems like the speakers going out, DVD player quitting, and power supply giving out within months of purchase, his Toshiba has performed flawlessly.

So, when I went to get my own laptop, I naturally gravitaed toward the Toshiba’s. I found the Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5928 for under $500 at Walmart. Here are a few of the specs that make it a rocking machine…
* AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-62
* Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium (SP1, 32-bit)
* 3GB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz SDRAM
* 320GB HDD (5400rpm)
* DVD-SuperMulti drive (+/-R double layer)
* Atheros® Wireless LAN (802.11b/g)

It has a built in web cam and mic which works awesome for my Skype calls. I’ve enjoyed being able to communicate with friends and clients alike, in a more personal and face-to-face manner than email.

A 15.4″ display is just right for me. It lacks the number keypad that a 17″ offers, but it’s much lighter and fits in a standard laptop bag. It’s not an ultra thin by any means, but in comparison, the price was ultra thin! (those ultra lights are expensive!!)

The speakers are great. I’m a musicaholic so quality sound is a must.

Of course there are little features like face recognition (webcam) and slots for media cards. The bright display makes this graphic designer happy and the lightening fast processor isn’t all that bad either. ;-)

I’m completely satisfied. No, I’m tickled pink. After a month I’m still in love! I work on this machine several hours a day. I haven’t found anything it can’t or won’t do!
