This week my husband and I enjoyed one of my favorite dates of our entire relationship!
After putting the kid to bed, hubs hopped in the shower since he’d just mowed the grass, and while he was in there I fixed us a nice little plate of snacks… just things we had around the house, including some grape juice in wine glasses. I surprised him with the plate of goodies and we sat down to watch a movie.
Date nights don’t have to be extravagant or expensive, nor do they have to be planned in advance! While sometimes it’s a lot of fun to get out and have a fancy dinner or see a movie on the big screen, other times relaxing together at home, snuggled up on your own couch, can be the best date night of all!
We didn’t purchase anything for this date. The snacks and drinks were found in our own home. Because our lil man is just 2, he has an early bedtime and we didn’t have to hire a sitter. The movie, Fireproof, was one we’d already gotten in, thanks to our subscription with Blockbuster’s mail program.
How would you spend you own Date Night-In?

Great post Erica!!! I love the healthy snacks you chose.
My children are older, ages 8 and up, so we just retire to our room.
Like Erica, I keep snacks on hand so it is easy to whip something up. If I know we are going to have a date night, we will even skip dinner and save our calorie consumption, (something you have to do as you get older,) and our appetites for snacks like you see in Erica’s photo.
Being in our room gives us the opportunity to watch our movie after “slipping into something more comfortable” for snuggling in.
We purchased a second copy of our favorite “when we were dating” CD’s to keep in the bedroom. When the movie is over we can play music and have pillow talk. We have a little space to slow dance, and we usually do so.
Sometimes we forgo the movie and play cards or do word puzzles, all while snuggled together enjoying our snacks.
In the summer, we use our little balcony off our bedroom.
If you are going to use your bedroom for date nights, it is best to get it looking nice. (ie: You don’t want your mind on a basket of laundry.) Cut some flowers and light some candles.

My husband would have totally laughed me out of the house with those snacks, no offense. He wants things like “spinach and artichoke dip” or “Rotel and cheese” or “chili cheese dip”, not exactly “healthy” or “romantic”. Oh well!
