Diane Birch in Concert

Granada Theatre Dallas, TXWhen Arianne from One2One Network contacted me about an opportunity to see Diane Birch in concert I was curious. I’m a music lover. Make that music breather. I hadn’t heard of Diane, but I followed the link to her Myspace Artist Page and instantly fell in love with the tunes.

Through a little online investigation I realized this concert was actually a James Morrison event and Diane’s band would be the opening gig. Morrison’s music sounded good too, but it was Diane Birch I really wanted to hear.

Hubs and I decided to make it a date night. We got a baby sitter and drove 2 hours to Dallas. We had a pretty hilarious, yet somewhat annoying time of getting in. Our names weren’t on the official roll call list. However, the guy who stepped up to help us was extremely gracious and he went out back to the band’s bus and asked if their management had reserved tickets for us. Sure enough, he came back with a hand written note that had not only my name on it, but the name of a fellow twitter-pal, MommaDJane!! We thanked the generous man and walked on in. I was secretly hoping I’d get to see and meet Dwan, but figured it was unlikely… the place was already packed!

I’d never been in the Granada before. After making our way to the balcony and finding some amazing seats, I looked to my right, and just across the aisle was MommaDJane! I excused myself and ran over to meet her. It was such a neat experience for me, meeting an online pal in real life!

Diane BirchAt 9:pm Diane Birch and her band took the stage. From the opening bars of the first song, till her closing bow I was entertained. But, it was more than that. I was stirred. Something deep inside of me was reawakened. The love for music I’ve always had, but had ignored the past few years, was watered and it grew with every song. Diane’s music is more than entertainment. It is art, and it is beautiful. As a music lover, musician, and singer I was extremely impressed. To see a woman with such talent and originality thrilled me. Her band was phenomenal. From tambourines to trumpets, everything was live and real. The background vocals blended with her rich voice in perfect harmony; a mix of soul, folk, and blues. It was Etta James, Nora Jones, and Elton John all rolled into one, with a smidgen of southern rock thrown in.

Valentino rocked the house. The audience was on their feet and clapping to the rhythm. Hallelujah made my heart sing, and Nothing but a Miracle was a lover’s dance. Even though this wasn’t “Christian” music it stirred my heart to worship and adore the Creator of all music.

Diane Birch’s songs are originals, written, composed, and sung by her. Her upcoming, debut, album Bible Belt will include all the wonderful songs we enjoyed at the concert.

James MorrisonWe stayed to enjoy James Morrison in concert. He really rocked the house! It took me a few songs to switch gears from Diane’s artistic style to James’ entertainment, but once I did, I really enjoyed it! When I Was Little was my favorite tune bar far, and his British accent had me laughing… I had to strain to understand him, but often found humor in his words. His band was very energetic and entertaining. They kept the crowd on their feet while Morrison’s smooth voice held their hearts.

My husband and I greatly enjoyed the whole experience. Meeting Dwan (@MommaDJane) and her sister (@beautifulbp,) listening to some amazing music, visiting the Granada for the first time, and just spending time together. Thank you, One2One Network for the opportunity to enjoy some wonderful bands we didn’t know existed!
