Growing up in rual Kentucky, I saw this organization at work in our local community. In fact, my family received a milk cow through the Chain of Life and Heifer International! Having benefited from, and worked with this particular organization, this charity is close to my heart!

This month, TypeAMom, Traveling Mamas and BookstorePeople are teaming up to draw attention to this amazing organization!
This great nonprofit organization that really has a positive impact on the world. Through carefully monitored donations, families in impoverished countries are given hens, geese, goats and other hardy animals – these families are also taught to care for and nurture their animals, so that the healthy creatures give them eggs, chicks to raise, and milk.
Part of the Heifer philosophy is that families who have been helped, pass their gift along by teaching and aiding other members of their communities to do the same. This ties very closely to Type-A Mom’s own mission which, while not featuring as admirable a goal as ending hunger, is to create a place where more experienced mom writers help the inexperienced to learn the ropes of web publishing and, ultimately, support their families as work at home moms.
Every reader who leaves a comment under the relevant post on all three sites listed above will see ten cents donated to Heifer International, with a cap of $1,500.For just a couple minutes of your time you can help make a difference.
This fundraiser runs through April 30. There’s never been an easier way to donate money to a truly good cause!

We brushed up our math skills and noticed that we could give $1 per person who comments on the three blogs! So, the cap is the same, but the contribution amount has increased ten fold.
Thanks for helping to get the word out, I love the picture!
