We schemed. And then, we dropped some love.

Ok, make that a LOT of love, and a LOT of scheming.

This month, Blissdom partnered with Love Drop and then picked a Blissdom community member to show some love to. While most of the world sees the drop starting the first of the month, there’s a lot of behind the scenes work and scheming that goes into a drop. This month, I was very blessed to be a part of that process.

You see, it all started a few months ago when Blissdom announced they’d be partnering with Love Drop. Someone in our little masterminds Skype group decided it would be cool if we could all nominate a certain member of our group who was going through a particularly difficult time. So, a new Skype group was born: The Merry Band of Schemers.

Katie has been adored for years as a Blissdom conference community member, as well as being very involved in the site, Blissfully Domestic. She’s built so many friendships and encouraged so many people. Having myself only ‘met’ her online a few months ago,

I’ve been very blessed by the stories of how she’s always been there for everyone else, how nothing is ever about herself, and how she just gives and always smiles. I have been shocked and inspired by her strength these past few months as she’s gone through radiation and surgery to remove tumors from her brain, all while loving, supporting, and raising two beautiful little kids. It can’t be easy to be a single mom, and then to have brain tumors on top? Katie is a truly amazing woman!

Over the past few months the community of people who love Katie has come together to make this Love Drop very special for her. From sharing frequent flier miles so her best friends could come to Dallas to surprise her, to sending gifts, cooking food to stock her freezer, shopping for her kids, gathering donations, and traveling many many miles, the people behind this drop were able to give back just a tiny bit of the love Katie shows to everyone who knows her. It was a very heartwarming thing to take part in, and truly a blessing to give.

My husband was grand and watched our son so that I too could drive to Dallas to help with preparation and surprise my new friend. I got to spend two and a half fabulous days with people I generally see just once a year, and then only at busy conferences. As we shopped, cooked, ate, drove, and planned together we formed bonds that will not soon be broken. I’m so grateful to have had this time with people who are dear to me!

I really can’t decide who is more blessed… Katie or those of us who got to see her smiles, hear her laughter, and hug her neck.
