If you’re reading this blog, chances are, you read other blogs, blog yourself, or both. This means you’re on the computer. A lot. Like me, you try and find ways to make this arrangement a little more comfortable and better for your posture and body alignment. When SmartFish asked if I’d like to review their new Whirl™ Laser Mouse w/ Anti-Gravity Comfort Pivot, I was tickled! Not only do I appreciate the advances in ergonomic technology, but I’d just gotten a new laptop and the touch pad on it is incredibly different and less accurate than my old laptop’s.

The only problem is, the mouse arrived two days before I left on vacation. I opted not to take it with me for space saving reasons, and left if for my husband to try out. It’s been attached to his workspace since. Yes, I did get to try it for a day, and I like it! But, it’s my husband who’s using it the most. I asked him what he thought…

The Pros: The idea is fabulous. Anytime you can take a repetative motion and make it more comfortable is a good thing. He likes the idea behind the design and the simple shiny design. He was intrigued enough to really look into Smartfish’s Engage™ Compact Keyboard with ErgoMotion™.  He came very close to buying that, so I think that’s a good sign. (His reason for not buying? He really wants something with programmable keys on the left…)

The Con: It’s tall. I think this would be less of an issue if he was using it at a regular desk with a recessed keyboard and mouse area, but right now he’s working at the kitchen table which is rather elevated. The added height of the the mouse is a little much for his liking. But, as you’ll probably remember from my second paragraph… the mouse is still in his possession, so it can’t be all that bad. haha

More Good Stuff: This mouse has won awards from PCWorld, GQ, and the CES. It was a Gadget of the Month for GQ! The price is very comparable to other wireless laser mice… yes, I’ve paid over $50 for a good laser mouse. It comes in all different colors and can even be purchased as a Mini for portable use!
