How to Customize Your WordPress Dashboard

Share

On your first login to WordPress you’ll notice several boxes on the admin dashboard. They should be aligned in two rows and include items like Right Now, Quick Press, Recent Comments, Incoming Links, etc.

First off, look in the top right of the dashboad for a Screen Options tab. This is a dropdown and you can click it to de-select items. I like to hide all the Plugins, QuickPress, Recent Drafts, WordPress Development Blog, and Other WordPress News.

Then, select the layout you wish to use, close the dropdown and drag and drop to arrange your remaining boxes.

Note that some plugins you add will put additional boxes on your dashboard. You’ll be able to arrange, hide, or show these via the dropdown.

You can repeat these steps for many of your WordPress admin pages. From Posts and Pages to Tools. Each admin page will have different options, but they are all easy to customize!

Enjoy cleaning up your WordPress admin dashboard!
