Video gaming isn’t my thing. Neither is watching TV. But, I’m really enjoying the Nintendo Wii! Having gone five years without a television, to having a TV and the Wii Gaming Console in our house all in the same weekend was quite a big deal for this geeky family.
Why I Chose the Wii Gaming Console
1. I’ve been trying to get fit for a couple years now, but due to schedules, being a 1-car family most of the time, and the gym’s childcare schedule being really whacky, I’ve been unable to commit to time at the gym. I needed something to get me going and had heard great things about the Wii Fit Plus. (review on that to come soon!)
2. Our son is still a toddler. If he was going to be able to enjoy any gaming at all, the console needed to be kid-friendly. Also, the games made for the Wii tend to be cleaner and more family friendly than those made for some of the other gaming systems.
3. We wanted to play together. Once again, having a small child, who is also an only child, meant we needed something to play together. With the Wii we can all bowl or play baseball together and Lil Man thinks he’s hot stuff!
Best Features of the Nintendo Wii Console
1. It’s small. We’re in a small duplex and space is always an issue. Especially when you’ve got a 32″ TV to go with the Wii.
2. It’s easy to use and navigate. You don’t really need manuals to figure out how to set up the Wii, or to play it. Everything is very intuitive.
3. It’s made with families in mind, and that is evident in the games available for the system.
4. Netflix for the Wii ROCKS! We’re watching movies and TV episodes straight from Netflix, no DVD’s needed. Since the Wii is connected to the internet via our wi-fi connection we’re able to use the special Wii disk Netflix sent to connect to their Watch Now channel. It’s been fabulous and is one of our favorite features!

Con
Not a gamer’s favorite. My husband is a gamer. He likes Unreal Tournament, Assassin’s Creed, Medal of Honor, etc. His first game for the Wii was Prince of Persia and he tired of it very quickly. He’s currently playing a Star Wars game, but says he feels the control with the Wii is just a big clunky and less than accurate. Having played most of his games on his PC and some on my sibling’s 360 he’s a little disappointed with the Wii’s performance.
Summary
Our family is having a ton of fun with the Wii! If you’re looking for a good family gaming system, the Wii console is the best! If you’re an avid gamer, try something else.
Note: None of this was given to me to review. I bought the TV, Wii, Accessories, and Games out of my own pocket and am simply reviewing it because we like it!

Big fan of the Wii, though like your hubby I prefer the hardcore gaming of the 360. But it's great for parties
Yea, love the Wii for having fun when friends come over. We have two remotes right now, but I'm thinking we'll have to get a few more for some of the team games.
Personally, I'm enjoying the rhythm boxing on the Wii Fit Plus. hehe
Hey, I was gonna tell you, I'm using your WP Email Capture plugin on a couple of my clients sites and it is FABULOUS! I've tried several now, and yours is the best, hands down.
My family keeps bugging me for a Wii for Christmas but I'm not sold on it. Especially since we have a PS2 and lots of games for it.
I do have to say that I love that Netflix is so compatible with so many formats. We recently bought a Roku to add to our Netflix account and it has quickly become a favorite in our household. In fact, they fight over who gets to watch stuff on the Roku.
Glad you love it
