Since music is pretty much all I need to live, (food being optional) making music a part of this site has always been a must. It’s part of bringing who I am, and what I love to this space. I like to listen to music while I work, study, or drive. My favorites to listen to during work include anything ambient, piano rock, and ballads. Nora Jones, Diane Birch, Sarah McLaughlan, Jars of Clay, Moby, David Grey, Elton John, and now, One eskimO…

Meet One eskimO
One eskimO is a critically-acclaimed English band fronted by singer-songwriter Kristian Leontiou and includes musicians Pete Rinaldi (guitar), Jamie Sefton (bass, horns) and Adam Falkner (drums). They currently have the #1 adult alternative song called ‘Kandi‘ which you may have already heard since it’s the most played song on all adult rock radio 4 weeks and counting.
This song was also just licensed by one of my favorite TV shows, Bones. One eskimO FTW!! You can watch the Music Video for Kandi on One eskimO’s YouTube Channel. Cool song.
I’d definitely agree with Billboard Magazine, who calls One eskimO’s self-titled debut album “…catchy, ambient pop.” You don’t really need to know the words, ’cause the vocals blend so beautifully with the music that it’s hard to separate them. Not because they aren’t clear, because they are; they’re just perfectly matched.
One eskimO’s CD debuts today! You can get the One eskimO Deluxe Edition on iTunes! And, there’s a Free Download of “Astronauts” via Twitter!
My favorite One eskimO songs:
Slip, Chosen One, and Amazing. Kandi is good, yes, but that’s because it’s catchy. Slip is slow, like a lover’s dance. Chosen One is more of a lullaby for the soul… gentle like the rain. Amazing is aptly titled.
Givin Up could easily be a Moby cover. It’s repetitive in a catchy, percussion filled way. My little one likes to dance to it, and begs me to dance too.
If I could change one thing about the album, it would be to take the lead vocals out of Chocolate, and leave just the backgrounds for more ambient, less screech. It’s not bad, but it seems to contradict the rest of the album, and drives me a little crazy.
