Working Weekend

Working weekends is not normally my idea of fun or relaxation. I usually stay as far away from blogging, designing, and consulting as I possibly can and busy myself with other things… but, this weekend my husband is working some major overtime hours to complete a project at work, so I’m using this time to catch up on several projects.

On Thursday I designed and uploaded headers for 28 sites for a new blog network. I can’t wait to show them off and tell you all about this new venture. It’s not my deal, but I am very excited about being a part of it!

The art guild’s site is almost done. I can taste the flavors of completion on my tongue! I’ve spent some time over the last two days fine tuning a few things and updating some content per the members requests. The last step is to set up blogs for each member and add some custom widgets to work on the biography pages.

One of my regular clients just gave me the go-ahead on several projects, offering me as many hours as I can fit into my week. This is exciting because I know if I schedule my work I can fit in more of their projects and bring in more money. Weee!

Oh, and I can’t forget the side project… installing window tint on a 25′ window in the conference room of the company my husband works for. I spent most of Saturday morning smearing a dark vinyl cling onto windows while going up and down a small ladder. No I had never done this before and yes, it was kinda fun. :-)

As I’m finishing this art guild project I’m gearing up for two major site constructions for the month of May. An automotive garage and a doctor! I’ve used the weekend to answer some emails about the projects and make sure we’re ready for calls on Monday and the purchase of some themes…

Also happening Monday morning is a much overdue visit from the cable tech. My internet has been cutting off for about an hour a day, with a total of 4 hours on Friday. This inconsistency in service has put a huge rock in my circular path to productivity and I feel like I trip over it with every round. I’m ready to have that rock out of the way!! Who knows, I may even find some time for blogging once my internet is fixed!

What have you been up to this weekend?

  1. Decorating and working.

Not very good planning on my side really.

My wife and I planned to start the decorating this weekend, as it it is Bank Holiday weekend in the UK AND my business partner and I decided to re-open the doors to our membership site.

If fact, now I think about it, the weekend has been all work – decorating and making sure we are ready for the re-open.

Your new blog network, sounds like fun! When you going to tell us more?

    Andrew,

    I don't know if I'd call it a blog network or not. I can't think of a
better term at this point. A group of ladies I know came up with an idea
for sites and they're all related, first hald of the site names/titles
are the same. It'll be an experiment in blog curating/news sharing. I'm
helping with the headers, then I'll just be a writer/curator. I believe
the project launches around Mother's Day weekend. They keep moving it
out a bit to solve more technical difficulties. :-)

    Hi Erika,
Interesting to read about the blog networks…pretty cool.
I heard about your site from David Risley. I figured I would stop by and check it out. If you are doing something right to Crush It, I'm into learning. :)

    Take care,

Thanks for stopping in, Brandon! David is fabulous and to even be
mentioned on his blog is enough to motivate me to Crush-It!! :-) I hope
you'll stick around and share your story of how you're crushing it too!
