Last week we talked about playing. This week, it’s time to bring some focus to our play!
Part 2
Nurture Your Dreams and Inspiration
Once you know what it is that makes you tick, the thing you call play, write it at the top of every list, or pin a related photo to your inspiration board. Find a way to make play happen in a small way every week. You may not be able to stop what you’re doing and chase your dreams full time, but you must find time to nurture the dreams so that they grow and in time, become reality.
If at all possible, find a way to turn what you love into your job. Start a side business, or a large company. If you love what you do, it will show!
Part 3
Play With Your Goals In Mind
Way too many people spend their adult lives working at jobs they dislike. While I know that life isn’t always going to allow us to skip the things we don’t like and just have fun, I think most of the time we’re just settling for less. We slave away day after day, while our dreams fade like an old poster on the wall. It’s time to take the poster down, fold it into a paper airplane, and fly it!
Adding focus to your play doesn’t mean it can’t be fun anymore. It just means you’ll feel accomplished at the end of the game. It’s like the difference between shooting a few hoops alone and playing a game of three on three with your friends… a few rules, a goal of twenty-one points, and you’re on your way to some really big fun!
Wishes will blow away in the wind of change. Hopes and dreams are directionless. Goals have both – a set direction and time..

If you are ever going to do what you love to do, either part time or full time, you are going to have to set some goals. Dreams bottled on a shelf become stagnant. Figure out what you need to do to get where you want to be a few years from now. Then work on the smaller goals between; monthly, even weekly if you need to.
You Can Play With Us
Perhaps the most powerful invitation I ever received was the acceptance and encouragement of others in my niche. I want to extend that invitation to you. Whatever it is you love to do, share it! It doesn’t have to be here, with me, but by all means, tell someone. Share your goals and ask someone to hold you accountable… to make sure you play, often!
