It all started in the middle of the night… A strange dream about being in a crowd, waiting for something to start, and then seeing a guy I used to sing with take the stage. After not having seen him for several years, I was quite surprised, but nowhere near as shocked as I was when he forgot the words to an old song we used to sing…
Sorry, John. I don’t know why you forgot the words, or where you were, but the dream ended well! You didn’t know I was there, but I started singing (LOUDLY) from the audience and when you saw me you motioned me on stage where I joined the rest of your band. It was a GREAT concert and so much fun!
Dream over.
Where in the heck is this guy nowadays? Oh yes! Singing his heart out on SingSnap.com. After some Googling I found him… still in the same ol’ town, singing like Elvis. Ah yes, plus a wife and kid! (Gee, I really should stay in better touch with my friends, eh?)
Anyway, the old SingSnap is no eye-catching website, (something about it is broken; after you login it looks fine) but it’s pretty fun! You can sign up for free, and hunt down a song that you can record for free. (most require a paid ‘gold membership’ to record) Most of my favorites would cost me money, but I finally landed on a Sarah McLachlan tune I adore…
If you have ever wanted to see/hear me make a fool of myself, check out the video. Otherwise, skip it.
Note: Made with my laptop’s mic/webcam, so don’t expect any high quality recording, ok?? Afterall, it is FREE.
From what I can see, SingSnap comes with a lot of features, like voice compression to make you sound better, if you pay for their services. I can’t see myself paying for a site that doesn’t look good till you login… but if someone were to take the same idea and make it look decent… Well, I could easily become addicted and record all Robert Bravery’s original lyrics for old tunes like The 12 Days of Christmas!

HA! This post was a blast. What a lovely voice you have. God has blessed you with many talents. Thanks so much for sharing this! I'm going back for another listen now.
@Ileane
Thanks, Ileane. It was fun to do something a little different for a change. I do not enjoy seeing/hearing myself on video, but I've promised myself I'll step out of my comfort zone in 2010. :p
Internet karoke! Very interesting. You did a great job in this video Erica. I applaud you for taking a chance and really putting yourself out there. I would never record myself singing. I would be banned from the Internet for life.
Patty! That is what it's like… they even play the words on the screen for you. lol
I can sing in front of hundreds of people, and have many many times, but there is something different about recording yourself and watching it. Ick. haha
I was glad I had the poor-service to blame my imperfections on. haha
Hey, girl got skills!
That was a fine job you did there. When is the CD launch?
On a serious note (pun intended), you do have a very nice voice.
Hehe. Thanks, Jimi. No CD anytime soon I'm afraid. I haven't sung in public in about 6 months… no time for it anymore and since moving across the country to a new place, people don't really know me. I 'used' to be a local celebrity. haha Small town. Now, I sing or play my guitar at home for my own enjoyment.

Thanks for being brave. This is the nicest thing I've seen on the internet all week.
You need to change the post title though.
You didn't make a fool of yourself. You just made yourself more human to everyone that watches this..

Glen, Thank you! I'll take that compliment any day! To be human is to show a little of ourselves, so be real, and personal. Putting ourselves out there isn't always easy, but your comment made it totally worth it! I'd like to be known as a Human Blogger!
I see you're using the Bueno theme from WooThemes! I've just completed a site for a client, using the theme and it is fantastic. I love the openness and web 2.0 feel.
