When the weekend comes, the last thing I want to do is brainstorm for ideas, research, or create tutorials. My brain is fried and needs a break. So, I spend some time reading a good book (currently The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey), sneak in a nap or two, take a break from major cooking, and reflect on the past week.
In many ways, this past week was grand!
While I didn’t originally plan to, I published six posts (this will be the seventh).
I exceeded my goal for discovering at least one blog outside of my usual network each day, and leaving a comment on at least one of them. Also met my goal of adding a new blog to my Google reader. I feel looking outside my traditional reading-rounds has really inspired me this week and I plan to continue!
My entry in the Twitter background design contest for health-drink company, Genesis Today, took the lead and has steadily gained votes… With the voting ending tomorrow, I’m confident I’ll win. (But, just in case… Vote for #3, pretty please?)
I’ve commissioned the base artwork for my first official logo/branding of this site. I’ve also purchased the theme I intend to use and have begun the modifications I want. This is a huge step towards one of my bigger goals for the first quarter.
Another big goal for me this year is to attend a blogger’s conference. I’ve never been to one, and after blogging for close to six years, I feel it’s high time I met some people who think like I do. Sure, I have a network of people online, but I’d love meet some of them in person! And, learning a few things couldn’t hurt either. So, I’m starting small. BlissDom is within reach. The conference ticket should have my name on it by Monday morning (which is why it’s important you vote for #3), my room is booked, and I have carpool arrangements made to get there. Feburary 4th-7th is going to be a grand adventure!
Oh yes! I also helped round up a ticket (they’ve been sold out for a while) for my roomie/carpool buddy!! I can’t wait to take this adventure with a friend!
And, you wonderful people have left me over 45 amazing comments that have totally made my week! Thank you!
I was going to list the not-so-grand parts of the week, but after listing all that, how could I even think about the negative?
So, how was your week?

You'll win for sure! Your Twitter background is the best one in the contest! Woohoo!
Thanks, Courtney! I'm so excited.
Good luck in the design contest, Erica.
I’ve had a good week this week. Joel and I decided to add another bonus of a free premium theme to our new blogging course and that’s made a few more people sign up. When they know they are getting a theme worth $87 for free, in theory they are getting the first two months of the course for free.
Plus this week I decided to add a ’shop’ page to my blog – simply recommending all the different tools etc, I use to help me blog. Have yet to write about it but as you asked – I thought I would mention.
Andrew
Andrew, congratulations on the success of your launch!! I'm excited about it, because I know it's really going to help people.
Coolio! A 'shop' or resources page is something I'm considering adding to my site when I roll out the new design. I feel like I have too many banners on my site, but I've already narrowed down to the few things I really believe in, and that make me money. It would be hard to get rid of any more. So, I thought maybe having a Recommended Resources page would be helpful for my readers, make a little money for me, and most of all, clean up my sidebar!
I'll be stopping by to see yours in just a bit!
Any feedback on the shop page would be very welcome.
Thanks.
