Use Roboform to Organize Your Passwords in 2010

Getting organized is one of the most popular new year’s resolutions. It seems no matter how hard we’ve worked on organizing our lives, a little more organization couldn’t hurt! Passwords are something bloggers have lots of… one for every affiliate program, multiple emails, the blog itself, and all those social media sites!

One of my favorite time saving organization tools for my computer-time is RoboForm. I have the Pro version (unlimited) with a RoboFormToGo license so I can run the software from a jumpdrive and use it on any computer. This really comes in handy, even at home! I have two computers that I use for work, and trying to keep a desktop version of the software updated on more than one machine would be a real hassle. Believe me when I say, I use this software about 50 times a day. This is one of those products I can shamelessly promote with my affiliate links because I know it works!

RoboForm: Learn more...RoboForm is fantastic for securely storing usernames and passwords. But, that’s not all! It can also store information used to fill forms (your name, address, phone number, etc) and has a special section for notes. All information you store has the option of being password protected. I’ve set up a master password that I use to protect all my logins to financial sites, safe-notes that contain personal or financial information, and logins to client sites. I leave my every-day logins unprotected for quick and easy use.

One of my favorite features of RoboForm is the toolbar. Because the software stores the url as well as the username and passwords for your sites, you can use it like a Favorites or Bookmarks menu. Just select the site you want to visit and RoboForm will give your browser the URL, get you there and logged in with one click.

So, how does this help us organize?

RoboForm allows you to set up folders for your logins so everything is easy to find. If you store hundreds of passwords like I do, this is a HUGE plus.

I have heard of Roboform before. I didn't know it could keep track of passwords. I have so many passwords that I keep in an excel spreadsheet. Thanks for enlightening me.

Does it have a feature to generate passwords for you?

  4. EricaMueller says:

You know, I'd never checked that, but it does!! I just looked. :-)

I tried out Roboform but didn't like it. When I uninstalled it using Revo Uninstaller it totalled my Firefox settings and needed a completely new install.

Was it something I said :-)

  6. EricaMueller says:

Oh man! No idea. I have never uninstalled RoboForm, so I don't know. Could you not just uninstall via Window's Add/Remove Programs??

What didn't you like about RoboForm?

  7. Kevin Tea says:

I always use Revo as it clears out a lot of the registry trash that the standard Windows uninstaller leaves behind.

I felt very uncomfortable abou having a whole stack of sensitive information out of my hands. I know we trust passwords to cookies etc, but there was something about the way that Roboform handled stuff that didn't generate a lot of confidence.

I have no doubt you are more knowledgeable than I when it comes to security.

My husband and I have been using this for a couple years now, and so far, we're happy with it. If I could not password protect a portion of sensitive passwords I wouldn't use it for financial and personal stuff.

Are there other programs out there that you use/recommend?

Erica, Xmarks comes with a password facility which I have activated., It is easyu to use, especially when I do my weekly clear out with CCLeaner which removes a lot of poasswords.
