Holding 2009 Up to the Mirror. Liking the Reflection I See…

In saying goodbye to a year, we often reflect on the things we accomplished, or meant to and didn’t. I’m pretty happy with the way 2009 turned out and the things I figured out and made happen.

In 2009 I…

Narrowed down my niche. I attribute the completion of this one task with the success I’ve experienced both as a blogger, and a designer. I’ve actually spent less time blogging, but have turned out more content. Since my narrowing down in late July/early August I’ve published about 150 posts. Blogging more often was one of my goals for 2009 and even tho it took me a while to get into the swing of, I am tickled to have that crossed off my list!

Re-Launched TechnoMomDesigns.com with a whole new look, updated portfolio, and new prices. My business as a theme modifier has grown, not only in the amount of clients, but also the amount of return clients and the move from almost solely mom/personal bloggers to clients who are a lot more serious about their sites. I’m currently finishing up a site for a doctor who is also nationally known as a speaker, have just completed a site for a pro golf instructor, and am about to start work on another professional’s site. I still love doing blogs for women… it’s my passion. However, knowing I can do the other makes me feel great. :-)

Wrote for CNET for a full month. This had been a dream of mine. CNET is one of my favorite sites. I find it really useful for product reviews and being chosen by them and Palm to review the new Palm Pre was a huge honor!

Worked with Ford and 5 Minutes for Mom. The Spring Drive with the Ford Flex was way fun and my further involvement in an online community also resulted in my first expenses paid event where I met other Twitter and Blog pals for the first time. I was also tickled to find out about, and meet a local blogger who I drug into the Flex-fun and ended up doing a podcast with. (another first!)

Was interviewed for the first time… Read it!

Became a contributor at Blissfully Domestic. This great network of woman inspires me and I’m tickled to be giving back in some small way. I look forward to bringing it in 2010 and really stepping up my posting there.

Joined a sort of blogging alliance. The folks I’ve met via Twitter12 have been an essential part of the growth of this community. They have helped to break the ice for my visitors by continuing the conversations I start. They’re a great bunch of people and am grateful for their support!

Received my first check for affiliate marketing.

Bought and paid for my very own laptop, and a new printer. These two items have made my life much easier. :-)

And, I have made some of the greatest friends!

I challenge you to not only look to the future and where you want to be at the end of 2010, but to reflect on where 2009 has brought you. Sometimes our ‘successes’ aren’t obvious or huge, but when we list them out we realize just how far we’ve come.

What were the highlights of your year?

Sounds like you have had a great year Erica. It has been a good year for me as well. I decided to pursue my passion for photography and am starting to get paid clients which is a good sign of success. I have been blogging since the spring. It took me some time to whittle down my focus but I think I am getting there. I have posted over 200 posts. Looking forward to 2010 and all the wonder that it holds for us. Wishing you continued success in 2010!

Great accomplishments, Erica. That's a nice list to look back upon. The narrowing of the niche is something I am doing now which will be a big help in 2010.
    Nice post!
