Well, not quite to Grandma’s but, we will be taking the weekend off to go on a little adventure. My almost three year old is ecstatic! Attach the word adventure to any task, trip, or run to the store, and he’s in. No questions asked.
This time we’re actually going to have some fun.
The first Saturday of ever December the Neiman Marcus and the Adophus Hotel put on a huge Christmas parade downtown. Some friends invited us last year and we really enjoyed it, so we gladly accepted the invitation to attend again! We’ll go down this afternoon, meet our friends at the Adolphus hotel where we’ll be staying, and we’ll go eat supper someplace fun, like Maggiano’s. Then we’ll all pile into a big SUV or Limo and drive around the fancier neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights.
Sometime past everyone’s bedtimes we’ll put the kids to bed, the older ones watching the younger, and the adults will head down to a nice little bar in the hotel for a relaxing evening and when the sun is almost up, we’ll go to bed. I should say we’ll take a nap, cause that’s about how long we’ll sleep.
In order to get a nice view of the parade, the guys get up around five in the morning and set up lawn chairs right on the street, then guard them until the ladies and children are up and about. Then we relieve the guys and let them go eat breakfast and warm up…
And then, we watch the parade!!
Merry Christmas, everyone!!

Sounds like fun.
“Let's go on an adventure” helped me get my son through errands, airplane rides, going to other countries, and all kinds of stressful, tearful situations when nothing else would work. I'd like to reclaim some of that excited joy in my life.
Getting excited over one simple phrase, no matter what comes next.
Every day is an adventure around here. My son makes sure of that. haha I love to view life as a grand adventure. We can plan all we want, but we never really know where it'll take us. My father in-law says it's good to make plans so we have something to deviate from, and I think he's right. While I'm an organized person who plans by nature, I find the best days are those full of unplanned adventures that turn into precious memories.
