In my business of modifying WordPress themes for clients, I’m finding people are willing to pay a small to medium fee to have a theme modified to suit their needs or personality, but they often want me to start with a free theme. I’m not complaining, don’t get me wrong! However, I know the value of a premium theme vs a free one. Premium themes usually come with more options that un-experienced users can play with and set themselves.
Most personal bloggers don’t need a big fancy magazine style theme. However, writing about family, your life, or your journey to new and exciting places doesn’t have to be bland, or cheap looking either. Lots of designers are coming out with some spectacular themes for personal bloggers. One of these companies is BloggingTips.com.
Thanks to Kevin, whom I met via. the Problogger.com community, I was given a copy of Personal WordPress Theme to review and tell you guys about! I’ve been playing with it for a couple days now, and I’m having lots of fun.
From the layout of posts on the front page to the colors of the theme, anyone can change this theme! You don’t need to know CSS, PHP, or HTML to make this theme look really sharp. You simply pick a layout and color scheme (10 to choose from!) and then you can change the background color, or add a background image. Even the social media buttons are built in! You pick which ones you want to show and then insert the url’s to your profiles. The sidebar can be on either the left or right, can be full width all the way down, or split in two. Adding your own picture is easy too!
The only things I didn’t really care for are:
The formatting of a post doesn’t show in the excerpt on the front page of the blog. So, if you’d made something bold, or inserted a blockquote your readers won’t see that till they click thru.
Also, images don’t show on the front page, even if they are the first thing in the post.
I can understand why the designers coded the site this way… the front page has a very uniform look with all the excerpts looking the same. Who knows, I might not even like it another way!
Another little thing, that’s probably more me than anything else, is the lack of a horizontal category navigation. I guess with a personal blog, this wouldn’t be as important, but I’m a big fan of having both the page and category navigation in the header area.
So, how do you get this awesome theme??? I’m glad you asked! You see, Kevin has graciously allowed me to become apart of his affiliate program, so while you aren’t charged any extra, I get a small commission if you purchase his theme! Cool deal, right?

This theme is looking very nice, but I am using blogger and I think there is no much template available for blogger like wordpress.
Actually, there are some beautiful themes available for blogger. But, you're right, there is less in the way of options for customizing. You get what you pay for. The wordpress.com blogs are the same way…
However, if you're willing to pay a small monthly fee for some hosting and a yearly fee for a domain name, you can have all the options you want with a selfhosted WordPress site!
Thank you for your kind reply, I do not want to change my blogspot domain, as my blog already gain PR3 and good alexa rank. I will make another blog on wordpress later.
