I’ll admit, I’m a Sony camera fanatic. I have owned at least a dozen cameras of many different brands and of them all, Sony impresses me the most. For the past three years I have been a very happy Sony Cybershot DSC-H2 owner, and after selling my pocket sized Kodak last month, I’d put back money to purchase a comparable Sony.

Now, I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just save the money, plus the money I made in my yard sale last month, and sell my beloved DSH-H2.

Sony α330 DSLR CameraYou see, this morning I discovered this beauty. It’s a Sony DSLR-a330

That’s right, a Sony DSLR that’s also configured to work as a point and shoot for those of us who like the ability to, well, just that, point and shoot. What if I could own one camera instead of two or three? (you really don’t want to know how many additional cameras are stashed in my closet) I really could live without a pocket size camera since my Palm Pre smartphone takes decent photos for sharing on the web…

What do y’all think? Should I save up and sink about $600 into one camera that I should be happy with for years to come and can gradually grow into?

This looks like a pretty impressive camera to me, Erica. It has lots of features and I love the fact that you can change out the lenses. I wonder if anyone will have this on sale for Black Friday or even Christmas. I know the camera I bought in June for over $900 is on sale next week for less than $700. If you can hold out I would try.

Oh, you know me, always looking for a deal! haha I actually found it somewhere for under $500 and it came with one lens. You could get an additional lens and the package would be $599.

Still, I think I'll wait for the sales!!

  3. What do you think of the Canon 50D. I've heard people rave about it, and within two years I want to get a really good semi-professional camera. Photography is just such an awesome hobby. I love it.

Well, Gordie, personally, I'm not a fan of Canon. But, I've only used their point and shoot cameras. I'm no pro in the photography department. :-) My husband swears by canon, and so does my cousin. Hubs wants a Canon Rebel…
I've heard a lot of good things about the Canon 50D too. I'm thinking the Sony I'm wanting is a comparable camera… one of those in between models that would be good to learn on!

    Thank you for stopping by!

No, sorry, I don't have any medical jewelry photography!

I'm not into photography, but this Sony camera looks stunning.
I like the use of colour and it's finish. It also has a big screen at the back – I like

I'm with you on the colors! It's also available in plain black, but who would want that??? lol I have yet to see one of these in person… non of our local stores stock it. :-(

Erica, they both look to be excellent, point and shoot, cameras. What
are the features you can’t do without? If there are some, buy, if not,
spend your money on something you really need.

It’s not how much money you have, it’s how much you keep. Title of a
book offered through a financial guru I know. What would Dave Ramsey say?

On the other hand, when your family is young – buy. If you see a feature that will add to your biz – buy.

    I want one.

      Scott,

I’ve actually opted to stick with the camera I have for now, and just
purchased a smaller, pocket sized Sony. I’m loving it, and the ability
to take it with me wherever I go. Now I can save up for the big one…
