As much as I am in love with Epson, I have to put in a good word for HP. Their printers especially. My dad had a laser HP that he used for years and years. That ole printer is now in my parents basement and continues to serve my siblings over 10 years later!
My dad is a mechanical engineer. He prints large format drawings (or as some call them, blue or gray prints) on a daily basis. Lots of them. LOTS. His company owns 3 HP large format inkjet plotters. They purchase at least 10 ink cartriges a week to keep these machines in running order, but they are reliable and produce high quality prints.
When we got married my husband “came with” some techie gear which included the HP psc 2110v All-In-One. Being an Epson queen I wanted nothing to do with it. Yes, it produces beautiful copies and prints quickly. But, I’m a perfectionist when it comes to photo printing and HP has never stood up to my high expectations.
The Good:
Speediness. Whether printing or copying, this machine produces at high speed. The draft-quality setting is exceptionally nice when you don’t want to waste a bunch of ink, but you really need to see how something is going to look on the page!
Quality. For every day documents, I can’t complain. I like that I can scan straight to my computer with the touch of a button and get high quality image scans.
Not So Pleasing:
As I mentioned before, the HP is not up to par for photo printing. Maybe some of their models are ok, but all the ones I’ve tried have seemed a bit off when it comes to blues, causing the images to either look too pink, or too blue… they can’t seem to fall inbetween for a pleasing true-to-life image.
This particular model doesn’t have a document feeder. The next all-in-one I purchase will.
Summary:
Would I recommend this, or another HP All-in-One? For the every day home office or business professional, absolutely. For the photographer, no. You can’t always have the best of both worlds…
