… when you share your worst parenting moments, and instead of judging she reinforces what you know to be truth… despite your weak moments, you’re an awesome mother.
When you compliment each other in life, both on the job and at home. When her example inspires you to be a better wife, mom and friend.
When she compliments you on how great you look, and you know, your hair is all a-friz. When you can ask “Does this dress make me look fat?” and she can answer yes, knowing you’ll still love her, and yes, you’ll ask for her advice on clothing again!
When you know you can call just to talk, or hop on the IM to cry on her virtual shoulder.
When seeing her name in lights means as much to you as if it were your own.
When you squeal with delight at each others successes. When you can laugh at one another’s typos and grammatical errors…
That’s when you know, you’re sisters.
This is written in honor of some of the “sisters” I’ve never met in person, but love dearly,
Nichole Smith (@Nikki_S) and Alyssa Avant (@alyssaavant)
In addition, this is my entry to the “I Blog with the Sisterhood” (The Sister Project) contest where the 1st prize is an all expense paid trip to the Type-A-Mom conference! Official Entry information here!
